Do you know why I love what I do?

I get to help people when they need it most!

I was talking with one of my favorite clients the other day. She is having a really hard time due to some health issues with her husband.

She is now in an expedited timeline to sell her house and move and she is in her 80s.

She is such a strong independent lady and I am constantly amazed by her strength with all she has gone through. But when I showed up for our appointment this was the first time in years I have seen her looking so lost and defeated.

We talked everything through and I assured her it was all going to work out. And then we discussed how she has been working with me for years and has always kept her smaller house neat and tidy with de -cluttering projects over the years.

This is what makes her situation WAY less overwhelming. The amount of stuff and decisions she has to make is still hard but manageable.

This really made me think about how important your home is during these difficult circumstances and life transitions.

Even doing small tasks to keep things tidy leads to much less overwhelm during stressful times.

Could you use some help?

I’m here to make things easier for you.

It’s almost October…Fall is here!

Fall is my absolute favorite time of year!

Fall is a great time to add those extra touches to make your home feel cozy and welcoming.

So how do I help clients do that?

-Spruce up the front porch with some faux or fresh pumpkins, a pretty flower pot arrangement and a fresh door mat.

-Style your entryway with some beautiful autumn tones. I love velvet pumpkins mixed with colored glass, metal and faux flowers. And don’t forget the twinkle lights.

-Layer your living room with cozy blankets and throw pillows perfect for a movie night at home.

-Add as many twinkle lights and candles as you can and you will be amazed how this makes you feel calmer and more relaxed.

-And don’t forget to organize your tea and coffee so you can grab a cup and curl up with a good book.

These things not only make your house feel better but you are ready for guests at a moments notice!

Happy New Year…its the little things that make the biggest difference.

Happy New Year!

In January all we hear about is everyone setting big goals for the New Year?

But what if we take the pressure off and set some small goals that are an easy win?

The one thing I truly believe is that it is the little things that can make the biggest difference in our homes, closets and wardrobes.  What are some examples to make small changes that are super attainable?

-De clutter your drop zone area and set up a pretty tray or dish for keys.

-Add new throw pillows to your couch to refresh your living room.

-Add a lamp in a dark corner or buy fresh flowers.

-Make your bed everyday.

-Shop your closet and put together 3 outfits that are easy for grab and go.

-Follow the “one in one out” rule. You buy something and get rid of something. This will help keep your house manageable.

-Set up a donation bin or basket to make it easy.

-Tidy up your car… and the list goes on!

Christmas Decorating with chocolate treats

The past several years I have done different variations of this peppermint themed Christmas display on my client’s kitchen island. It is such a fun easy way to create a festive display that is edible too! Because who doesn’t love some chocolate during the holidays? I use  anything that is peppermint themed, red or white. My only rule with the candy is I try to find something with either a red wrapper or peppermint themed. You can get creative and use what you have on had to hold the candy and chocolate. I grabbed some stuff from the bar and used a crystal ice bucket, martini glasses, cocktail glasses and vases. I even use a white cake stand she already had on hand because it adds another layer of height.

I added some greenery and lights to make it fun and festive. It is a big hit with family and friends who come for the holidays. Just make sure you have some spare chocolate to replenish your display as it gets eaten. Chocolate covered pretzel sticks are one of my favorite things to add. They look great in a glass and taste delicious too! Would your family like this for the holidays?? Go get creative…

Colorful Christmas Living Room

My client recently redecorated her living room in some fun bright colors. This year for Christmas I wanted to tie in the fun bright colors that reflect her new space and her style and personality!
I had so much fun designing this mantle display with lots of colored bottle brush trees. I added colored ornaments in clear glasses and vases. Of course twinkle lights are a the finishing touch to bring it all together.
I even found those fun bright colored gift boxes in pink, green and cobalt. I embellished them with ribbons and ornaments to add some extra sparkle.  I love the way it all came together!  Target had a great line of holiday decor this year so I found most of the decorations there! Bright colored ornaments in small packs by color, an assorted box of the perfect bright color palette of large ornaments and assorted bottle brush trees by color too. These gift boxes sold out almost immediately so I was lucky to grab them before Thanksgiving. Shopping early does have its perks!
